Dear Community Members – First Nations Prescribed Stakeholders of the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service region,

We would love to share with you our draft WBHHS Health Equity Strategy (2022-2025), co-designed with our First Nations community to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, you are invited below to link onto our WBHHS Facebook page here: to view the WBHHS FNHES 2022-25 Draft strategy document and to ‘answer some quick questions to let us know how we’ve done here:

Over the last 12 months, the Queensland Government has passed legislation that prioritises First Nations health equity and mandates the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (Development and Implementation Prescribed Stakeholders) in the co-design, delivery, monitoring and review of healthcare services. Guiding principles in the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 include a commitment to the delivery of responsive capable and culturally safe health care working with, hearing and listening to the voices of our First Nations individuals, communities, consumers and community controlled organisations of the WBHHS region.

Please find attached the Wide Bay Hospital Health Service First Nations Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025 (WBHHS FNHES 2022-25) Draft documents which were posted on the WBHHS Facebook page on Monday 18th July 2022: Achieving First Nations health equity is important, so it's vital that we get this document right. Let us know your thoughts!

This distribution process of the strategy commenced the 30-day consultation period which will conclude on Monday 29th of August 2022.  This timeframe will provide an opportunity for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to provide feedback and endorsement of the WBHHS FNHES 2022-25.

Thank you for your participation, and please pass on to your networks.
