Over the last 12 months, the Queensland Government has passed legislation that prioritises First Nations health equity and mandates the participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (Development and Implementation Prescribed Stakeholders) in the co-design, delivery, monitoring and review of healthcare services. Guiding principles in the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 include a commitment to the delivery of responsive capable and culturally safe health care working with, hearing and listening to the voices of our First Nations individuals, communities, consumers and community controlled organisations of the WBHHS region.
Please find attached the Wide Bay Hospital Health Service First Nations Health Equity Strategy 2022-2025 (WBHHS FNHES 2022-25) Draft documents which were posted on the WBHHS Facebook page on Monday 18th July 2022: Achieving First Nations health equity is important, so it's vital that we get this document right.
